Intended Use and Specifications

Traditional windows are based on IV78 technology (78 mm profile, Low-E triple glazing, 3 gaskets), with manually applied wooden mouldings and drip rails. They are intended for old houses, historic monuments, and restoration projects. Custom configuration: a moulding profile from the collection or designed for the project, drip-rail width, position on the frame or sash, glazing bars, opaque RAL/NCS finish or Remmers lacquer, hardware for RC requirements on request, a standard wood species, and dimensions based on the plans. Full customisation follows the architectural requirements and the historic context. Model names are confirmed with the manufacturer.

What are traditional wooden windows

The structural base is the IV78 profile — 78 mm laminated wood, triple glazing, Schlegel Q-Lon gaskets, Roto NX hardware. Thermal performance is the same as for the standard series.

The difference compared with the plain IV78: laminated wood mouldings and drip profiles are applied to the frame and sash, manufactured in the factory and finished in the same cycle as the rest of the window. They are not accessories fitted afterwards — they are part of the product.

Uw depends on the configuration. For the standard IV78 geometry (1230×1480 mm, one sash), the base value is 0.81 W/m²K. For windows with structural glazing bars (several separate glazing), the frame/glazed-area ratio increases, and Uw increases as well — the exact value is calculated for the project configuration.

Collection of 12 models

Each model in the collection differs through the shape and layout of the mouldings and drip profiles. The collection covers classic wooden-window styles — from fine mouldings on the frame to wide drip profiles with a traditional profile. The structural base is identical for all: IV78, triple glazing, same production cycle.

For a decorative profile that is not included in the collection: we manufacture custom mouldings based on project documentation or an existing sample. Send us the plans or photographs.

Decorative hardware

For traditional windows, the hardware is part of the final appearance - it is not just functional.

Decorative cremone bolts

a locking system with a vertical rod and ornaments applied to the sash, specific to double-sash windows. They are visible on the inside of the window and contribute to the stylistic coherence of the ensemble.

Special handles in "ancienne" style

natural brass, brass with patina, bronze, hammered black, and other finishes not found in the standard range. Available from manufacturers specializing in ironmongery for heritage joinery:

Galbusera - wide range of colours and surface treatments
Other manufacturers on request, depending on project specifications

Decorative hinges

adjustable 3D hinges with decorative covers in plastic, aluminium, or brass. The hinge head can be standard flat or pointed (antique style). Available finishes: Bronze Plated, Natural Brass, Polished Varnished, RAL painted. Fully hidden hinges - available on request for a clean look with no visible elements on the sash.

When Traditional Windows is recommended
and when it is not the right choice

When they are the right choice

Wooden windows for old houses or interwar villas - where a simple modern window would break the facade's architectural language.
Historic monuments or buildings with facade restrictions imposed by the Heritage Department - we manufacture any decorative profile according to restoration documentation.
New houses built in traditional or neo-classic style where aesthetic coherence of the facade is specified in the project.
Renovations where the owner makes no compromises on either thermal performance or appearance.

When they are not the right choice

If the priority is a short lead time - 10-16 weeks compared to 6-10 for standard IV78.
If the budget is tight compared to standard IV78 - the cost varies depending on the complexity of the decorative profile and the number of windows, but is higher per unit than the standard series.
If a traditional look is not a requirement of the project - standard IV78 delivers the same thermal performance at a lower cost and shorter lead time.

Yes. We manufacture any decorative profile according to restoration documentation or the requirements of the Directorate for Culture. Send us the plans or façade photographs and we will discuss the suitable configuration.

The additional cost depends on the complexity of the chosen profile — the number of mouldings, the width of the drip profiles, structural or decorative glazing bars, and the number of windows in the order. There is no fixed multiplier. Personalized quotes are available on request.

Yes. Each separate glass pane adds extra frame - which has a higher Uf than the glass Ug. The more panes, the higher the frame-to-glass ratio, and the final Uw increases. We calculate the exact value for the project configuration.

Not in combination with the traditional collection - the exterior aluminium profile would alter the decorative appearance. For improved protection of the exterior wood, we recommend Remmers multi-layer finishes with UV extenders.

Yes, we manufacture and install nationwide. Custom wooden windows made in Floresti, Cluj - physical samples from the collection are available at the workshop.
